JUDGING SHOW

A truly fun and exciting challenge, with nearly 50 entries and an impressively high level of quality, an inspiring showcase of skill and imagination from everyone involved.

Thank you all for participating, and we hope you enjoyed the live judging session, which you can rewatch anytime via the YouTube link. Our goal is to keep the jury process open, constructive, and engaging, letting you follow the discussion and hear honest feedback along the way, huge thanks to Giovanni, András, and Dominik for sharing their insights.

D2 teamed up with Brick Visual to bring you a new challenge where the old meets the new — and you’re the artist making that connection.

What if you could bring a classic painting into the digital age… but with a twist? That’s exactly what we’re challenging you to do in Pigment to Pixel

This time, we’re asking you to reinterpret a traditional painting—anything from the Renaissance to early 19th-century art (so before modernism kicks in). Pick a masterpiece you love, any artist, any topic, and reimagine it through your creative lens using 3D tools.

The result? A fresh, visually stunning, and thought-provoking take on a historical work of art.

THE CHALLENGE

Choose a reference painting created before the dawn of modernism (roughly before the 19th century ends).

Analyze the original — what was the painter trying to say? What makes it powerful? What techniques were used to deliver the message?

Then, reinterpret that work using 3D tools. Stay true to the essence or visual language of the original — or completely flip the message on its head. As long as the connection is clear, the creative freedom is yours.

Want to add a surreal twist? Go for it. Feel like turning a quiet moment into a sci-fi epic? We’re in. Just make sure the spirit or structure of the original work is still recognizable in some way — either visually or conceptually.
